Finding Us in Emigration Canyon
Fifteen minutes east of downtown, past Hogle Zoo, where the road starts to climb. Directions, parking, patio seasons and what to expect from the canyon.
The Drive
Fifteen minutes from downtown.
From downtown Salt Lake City, head east on 800 South and keep going as it becomes Sunnyside Avenue and then Emigration Canyon Road. You will pass Hogle Zoo and This Is The Place Heritage Park on the way up. Keep climbing; the canyon narrows and the creek picks up alongside the road.
We are at 4170 Emigration Canyon Rd, Salt Lake City, UT 84108, a little further up the road than Ruth’s Diner. Parking is on site.

The Building
Five spaces, three patios.
The building went up in 1960 and was renovated into a modern mountain room that keeps a lot of its original bones. Downstairs sits off the open pizza kitchen and bar. Upstairs is a lodge-style hall with a large skylight and plenty of natural light. Outside, the creekside lower patio runs along the water and the upper patio sits up in the trees with the canyon opposite.
Patio seating is seasonal and weather dependent. If the patios are the reason you are driving up, call ahead — the canyon makes its own weather and we will tell you honestly what is open.
By Season
The canyon changes more than the menu does.
Summer is patio season, both of them, and the creek is loud enough to hear from the lower deck. Autumn turns the canyon — the best-looking time to drive up, and weekend tables go early. Winter: Emigration Canyon Road is maintained year-round, but check conditions before you set out and expect the patios to be closed. Spring runs the creek high.
The menus change with it — four seasonal menus a year, plus monthly food and drink specials.
